After three years of renting in Brighton, Jade Doutre has been able buy her first property and create her perfect family home in a historic Sussex village, thanks to Hyde New Homes’ shared ownership scheme at Bramble Park.
Corporate fundraiser, Jade, aged 28, had been looking at affordable ways of getting on the property ladder and building a future for her and her five-year-old son Teddy. While researching local shared ownership schemes, she came across Hyde New Homes’ website and immediately registered, filling out an eligibility questionnaire online to see if she could apply formally.
Although initially looking to buy an apartment as she thought a house might be too large for the two of them, as soon as Jade heard about Bramble Park, a newly built development of houses in nearby Hurstpierpoint, she was keen to check it out. “The development had a real family feel to it and Hurstpierpoint seemed like somewhere we could settle.”
With the South Downs national park on their doorstep, Jade and Teddy have plenty of outdoor space to enjoy. They are regularly out and about exploring the area, whether cycling to the local bakery, walking through the nearby woods or taking a football to the park for a kick-around.

After deciding to purchase the two-bedroom semi-detached house, Hyde New Homes were on hand to support Jade through the process.
“Hyde New Homes have been great at providing ongoing support,” Jade adds. “They left me a card and a bottle of wine on the day I moved in and are in touch regularly by email to check everything is going okay.”
