The weather is finally warming up and half term isn’t far off, which means families will be looking for places to visit and things they can do together. If you’re seeking inspiration for half-term fun near to our developments, here’s a quick round-up.
Spring Acres: Embrace the outdoors at Milton Creek Country Park
Within 13 minutes’ drive of Spring Acres is the award-winning Milton Creek Country Park. Sittingbourne’s newest green space, this 128-acre former landfill site is now a tranquil oasis for wildlife. The park offers a large natural play area, a community events space and a network of paths through meadow, scrub and aquatic habitats that are home to hundreds of species of wildlife.
Bluebell Heights: Explore Nature at Stanmer Park
With direct access to Stanmer Park from Bluebell Heights, the 485 hectares of woods and grasslands offers plenty of space for strolls, cycling, picnics, and kite-flying. Kids will love the play park, while adults can enjoy the restored walled garden, food and plant market, and cozy tea room. Stanmer Village, with its 18th-century farm buildings and orchards, adds a touch of history. For the adventurous, the park provides access to the stunning South Downs Way. Stanmer Park promises a perfect blend of nature, fun, and relaxation.
Wildbridge: History and adventure at Arundel Castle and Gardens
Arundel Castle, which is 14 minutes’ drive from Wildbridge, is steeped in history. With origins dating back to the Norman age, there’s so much for children and adults alike to enjoy, from the treasures in the house itself to the chance for children to dress up as their favourite knights, climb the battlements and see the amazing displays of armour, crossbows and swords. There are regular re-enactments, too. Look out for the thrilling Medieval Festival, which takes place from 25th to 27th May.
Riverside Square: A world of conservation at Howletts Wild Animal Park
Famous for its historic castle and cathedral, Canterbury has many attractions within walking distance of Riverside Square that can be enjoyed by all the family. Nearby (under 20 minutes’ drive) is the fabulous Howletts Wild Animal Park, home to some of the world’s most endangered and rare animals, including the largest herd of African elephants in the UK, gorillas and lions. There’s a great spring offer available until the end of June, with £10 tickets available for children aged 3-15 years when booked online.
St James Square: Get arty at Hove Museum of Creativity
Hop on a bus or take a half-hour stroll to Hove and experience a feast for the senses at Hove Museum of Creativity. Once the beautiful Victorian home of a local family, Hove Museum is now home to an amazing array of outdoor and indoor installations and displays of art and craftsmanship. Kids will be entranced by the toys in the Wizard’s Attic, while there are plenty of opportunities to get hands-on with free drawing and making sessions.
Whitstable Heights: Go on a Secret Spy Mission
Take in the beautiful seaside town through a self-guided spy mission, starting on Cromwell Road, just under 2 miles from Whitstable Heights. This exciting adventure will take you through the heart of the seaside town. Hunt along the high street, search high and low around the waterfront and breathe in through the alleyways. Can you solve the sneaky clues? And pick up an ice cream on the way.
Eastman Village: A Miniature Golf Adventure Awaits
Pick up a putter and get your game on with a round of mini golf at Jurassic Island Adventure Golf in Harrow. Suitable for kids of all ages, including mum and dad,18 holes of fun packed Adventure Golf amongst giants of the Jurassic period, cascading waterfalls, flowing streams, lagoons, lush greenery and tropical palm trees await. And all just a short bus ride away.
