The housing shortage in London, the south east and east of England is a recognisable, long-standing issue. We contribute to managing this by working effectively with our local authority and developer partners. We aim to build 1,500 new homes this year.
Working in partnership
We don’t believe in a one size fits all approach; the most successful partnerships are based on mutual understanding and shared objectives. Our options for partnership working include:
- Joint ventures – sharing risk and reward
- Partnering Agreements – with Hyde providing development management, Sales & Marketing and housing management services for partners
- Traditional estate regeneration projects

Energy and Environment
Reducing Carbon Emissions
Housing is responsible for 22% of the UK’s carbon emissions, so we have an important role in achieving the UK’s 2050 net zero carbon emissions target.
Our energy and environmental strategy is centered around two aims:
- to assess our environmental impact, set improvement targets and measure our progress
- to deliver a programme to improve the energy efficiency of both our new homes and our worst performing existing homes
The strategy will focus on five key areas:
- the Hyde Energy Standard: aiming to improve all our homes to an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) band C or higher by 2030
- community heating and heat networks: improving the management and efficiency of our heat networks and ensuring best practice for future developments
- communal energy use: ensuring we secure the best energy tariff for our residents and reduce consumption, costs and emissions
- offices, operations and transport: improving energy efficiency in our offices and managing employees’ travel emissions
